(Eagle News)– Senator Leila De Lima on Wednesday refused to attend House of Representatives’ own investigation of narcotics trade inside National Penitentiary, and cited ‘interparliamentary courtesy’ as her right to snob the probe.
“Alam naman nila iyan, ni Congressman Harry. Abugado rin siya. Interparliamentary courtesy,” De Lima said.
The senator issued this statement after Kabataan Party-list Representative Harry Roque challenged her to attend the lower House inquiry.
Interparliamentary courtesy is a tradition of both houses of Congress to not intrude in their respective affairs.
De Lima added that the House probe will no longer be necessary since the chamber had already conducted a similar investigation.
