MANILA, Philippines (Eagle News) — Senator Leila De Lima on Thursday describes Jaybee Sebastian, who had been accused as the one who help the lady senator to raise money inside the New Bilibid Prison for her 2016 senatorial bid as a government asset.
This is the senator’s response to the revelation of General Benjamin Magalong in the hearing at the House Committee on Justice yesterday, September 23.
That’s why she said Jaybee is not included in the Bilibid 19 that was transferred custody after the “Oplan Galugad” that was conducted in the New Bilibid Prison last December 2015.
The Bilibid 19 is consists of high-profile inmates with supposed links to illegal drugs.
Some witnesses on Wednesday, September 20 accused De Lima of giving preferential treatment to Sebastian. De Lima denies this.
“The reason why I’m saying he’s an asset is to dispel ‘yung mga maling haka-haka, insinuations that the reason why hindi muna siya sinama sa Bilibid 19 is because favored, protektado and lalo na ‘yung insinuations na ‘yan siya kumolekta ng pera para sa akin,” De Lima said.
She said the Bilibid 19 high-profile inmates may already have an idea that Sebastian is a government asset, that’s why Sebastian was not included in the isolation of the Bilibid 19.
