(Eagle News)–The death toll in the Iloilo, Guimaras sea tragedy has risen to 25.
This was after several more bodies were fished out of the waters between the city and the island on Sunday, Aug. 4, a day after three motorboats capsized there.
Earlier, the Office of the Civil Defense said 26 fatalities had been so far recorded.
Chi-Chi, which had 43 passengers and 4 crew members, and Keziah, with three crew members, capsized after they were hit by a sudden strong gust of wind.
The Jenny Vince had 39 passengers and crew members when it capsized several hours later.
Some of those rescued were brought to the Jubilee Hall in Iloilo.
They were assisted by the Department of Social Welfare and Development and other government agencies and volunteers.
Others were taken to the joint command center, the Eagle News learnt.
Trips of motorboats plying the route between Iloilo and Guimaras remain suspended as of Sunday.
