Count of injured now at 39
(Eagle News)—The death toll in the bomb explosion in Sultan Kudarat on Tuesday night has risen to two, the police said.
The number of those injured was also now at 39, the police said, as they looked for those responsible behind the incident in Isulan.
In a television interview Wednesday, Isulan police chief Supt. Celestino Daniel dismissed reports the Islamic State had a hand in the explosion.
“Hindi pa po tayo nagko-confirm nito dahil wala pa po tayong [nakukuha] diyan,” Daniel said.
He said security measures have been intensified in the area.
The explosion took place after the Bangamoro Organic Law that creates a Bangsamoro entity was signed by President Rodrigo Duterte.
Authorities earlier said they suspected the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters were behind the attack.
