(Eagle News) — Philippine National Police chief Director General Ronald Dela Rosa said that the German hostage being held captive by the Abu Sayyaf has already been beheaded based on initial unconfirmed reports that they have received.
While Dela Rosa claimed they were still trying to verify this, he admitted that the PNP had indeed received intelligence reports on the beheading of the Abu Sayyaf’s German captive Juergen Gustav Kantner.
Based on the intelligence reports received by the military and the police, the Abu Sayyaf bandit group led by a sub-leader Muamar Askali, alias Abu Rami, beheaded Kantner at about 3:30 in Barangay Buanza, Indanan, Sulu.
“Kahapon po yung mga na-receive kong text na pinugutan na nga raw talaga,” Dela Rosa said in a news conference Monday.
He said that this was the information that they received on the ground.
“This remains to be validated,” he said.
On Saturday, the military launched airstrikes against the bandit group as the 3 p.m. deadline approached on the beheading of the German captive.
The Abu Sayyaf was demanding P30 million for the release of their German hostage who was kidnapped in November.
