(Eagle News)– The Department of Education (DepEd) on Wednesday (September 7) issued a statement on Facebook, calling for police visibility near schools following a number of bomb threats reported in schools.
“While the said bomb threats turned out to be a hoax, we reiterate our call for police visibility near the schools,” DepEd said in its post.
The agency also urged school officials and the public to be extra vigilant for the safety of all, especially the students and the personnel.
“We also remind our school officials to intensify security and be extra vigilant to ensure the safety of our teachers, students, and personnel.”
DepEd also called for the public’s help to report information on terror threats to the authorities and to avoid spreading unverified information through social media.
This week, a number of schools in Metro Manila and the provinces received bomb threats, though police inspection found no bomb in any of the reported threats.
