DFA confirms 3 Filipina nurses in Saudi Arabia have Mers-Cov

Three Filipina nurses working in Saudi Arabia have tested positive for the deadly Middle East Respiratory Syndrome-Coronavirus or Mers-Cov, according to the Department of Foreign Affairs.

Foreign Affairs spokesperson Charles Jose said the three female nurses, were exposed to patients with Mers-Cov in the course of their work.

The first Filipina Mers-Cov case is a 56-year-old nurse, assigned at an emergency room of a hospital. She is now under isolation in the hospital’s staff house.

The second is a respiratory technician, currently confined and undergoing medical tests.   And the third nurse to contract the virus was assigned at the oncology section of a hospital.

The DFA has contacted the relatives of Mers-Cov victims and promised to inform them of any developments.
