(Eagle News) — No Filipino was hurt in the foiled missile attack in the Saudi city of Najran, the Department of Foreign Affairs said.
According to Consul General Edgar Badajos of the Philippine Consulate General in Jeddah, based on a report from Filipino community leader Fayes Mailao, all the 7,850 Filipinos in Najran are safe.
These include the Filipino nurses who work in the two hospitals which are near the area where debris from the blasted missile fell.
Saudi defense forces had shot the missile allegedly launched by Houthi rebels before it could reach what they said was a densely-populated area.
Badajos reminded Filipinos in Bahrain and the 30,000 others in the neighboring cities of Jizan, and Khamis-Mushayt to “always be vigilant,” noting that the southern regional Saudi Arabia was “frequently being targeted by ballistic missiles being launched from neighboring Yemen.”
