(Eagle News)—-No Filipino was hurt in the nationwide student protests in Bangladesh that turned violent over the weekend.
In a statement, the Department of Foreign Affairs said, however, that it was still closely monitoring the protests that have resulted in injuries and paralyzed public transportation.
“The Embassy continues to coordinate with leaders of the Filipino Community to check on the safety of their members and to see if any of our kababayan have been affected by the protests and need assistance,” Philippine Ambassador Vicente Vivencio Bandillo said.
Students calling for safer roads have blocked roads in the Asian country for the eighth day, prompting the authorities to use tear gas to disperse them.
