MANILA, Philippines – The Department of Foreign Affairs is still verifying the reports of a Chinese Coast Guard vessel near Pagasa Island, one of the islands occupied by the Philippines in the West Philippine Sea, with nearby local government officials expressing apprehension due to the nearness of said vessel although there was no reported intervention on Philippine fishing in said area. Futhermore, said vessel stayed in the area while the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit is ongoing.
