(Eagle News)– The Department of Information and Communications Technology has plans of putting up 250,000 Wi-Fi access points in the country before the term of President Rodrigo Duterte expires.
DICT officer-in-charge Eliseo Rio made the announcement in an interview over GMA 7 on Sunday.
“Ito yung RA 10929 na kami ay may reponsibilidad ho yung DICT na pairalin yung paglagay ng mga free Wi-Fi sa mga public places ho sa buong bansa,” he said.
He said the agency was set to conduct a bidding this month for the establishment of an initial six to 7000 access points “all over the Philippines.”
He said these include public schools, city halls, hospitals and state-owned universities and colleges,” among others.
