(Eagle News) — Local government units have until Thursday, May 28, to liquidate and submit their encoded list of beneficiaries of the second tranche of the Social Amelioration Program.
According to Interior Undersecretary and Spokesperson Jonathan Malaya, the deadline was given by Interior Secretary Eduardo Año himself.
“Only then can we proceed with the second tranche,” Malaya said, noting that only 472 out of 1634 LGUs have submitted their lists to the Department of Social Welfare and Development so far.
Although Malaya said the DILG recognizes the “huge difficulties encountered by LGUs in the SAP distribution of the first tranche,” he said this time around it expects “na mas magiging mabilis na ang proseso dahil pinagdaanan na nila ito at alam na nila ngayon kung paano mas magiging maayos at sistematiko ang pamamahagi ng SAP.”
Earlier, President Rodrigo Duterte approved the inclusion of an additional five million low-income families to the list of beneficiaries of the second tranche.
He also ordered the DSWD to tap soldiers in the distribution of the cash aid.
