(Eagle News)– The Ombudsman is set to initiate forfeiture proceedings to recover P29.2 million worth of alleged unexplained wealth reportedly accumulated by dismissed Philippine National Police chief Alan Purisima and his family.
In a statement on Thursday, the Ombudsman said it had ordered the filing of a petition before the Sandiganbayan, to initiate the proceedings against Purisima, his wife Ma. Ramona Lydia, and sons Rainier Van Albert, Eumir Von Andrei, Alan Jr, and Jason Arvi.
Ombudsman Conchita Carpio-Morales also directed the filing of nine counts of perjury against the former police chief, who was dismissed from the service following his indictment for graft over the anomalous awarding of a gun courier contract to Werfast Documentary Agency Inc. when he was head of the police force.
Sixteen others have also been indicted for this.
Morales’ order stems from Purisima’s supposed failure to disclose all his and his family’s properties in his Statement of Assets Liabilities and Net Worth (SALN) from 2006 to 2014.
These included 11 parcels of land in Talisay, Batangas; land in San Ildefonso, Ilocos Sur; real properties in Aulo, Palayan City; and a residential land Zaragosa, Nueva Ecija.
The Ombudsman also noted that he failed to disclose in his SALN the firearms he acquired from 2010 to 2014.
