(Eagle News) — The Department of Energy compound will be on full lockdown starting tomorrow, July 8, after three of its employees tested positive for COVID-19.

In an advisory, the DOE said the lockdown, which will end on Friday, July 10, covers the main building, the annex, gymnasium, the DOE motorpool and the multipurpose building.

The DOE offices located at the Philippine National Oil Corporation building, on the other hand, will be operating with a skeletal force.

“We are taking this action as an added precaution to ensure the safety of both our personnel and guests,” the DOE said.

According to the DOE, apart from the three who tested positive for COVID-19, several others are under monitoring while in quarantine.

It said they were receiving the proper medical attention, and “intensive contact tracing” was ongoing.

“All DOE personnel have been advised to strictly observe health and safety protocols (e.g. proper wearing of face masks and face shields, physical distancing, frequent washing and disinfecting of hands) at all times,” the DOE said, as it encouraged the public to transact “virtually” as much as possible.

It said “all essential documentary submissions will be subjected to rigid disinfection procedures.”

“The DOE is one with the nation in fighting this pandemic as we do our share in making our workplace environment safe not just for our employees, but for our stakeholders as well,” the DOE added.
