(Eagle News) — The Department of Health on Sunday said that most victims of firecracker-related injuries so far are children.
The DOH said in a statement that 70 of the 86 victims recorded so far from December 21 to 31 were aged less than 15.
This translates to 81 percent.
Piccolo topped the top causes of firecracker-related injuries, with 54 victims.
Boga was in second place with seven victims, and was followed by kwitis, with 5 victims; and whistlebomb, with 3 victims.
Most injuries were reported in the National Capital Region (NCR), with 44 victims.
Most cases in NCR were in Metro Manila, with 25 victims; Mandaluyong, Quezon City, and Valenzuela had four cases each, Duque said.
In the country, the place with the second highest number of firecracker-related injuries was Western Visayas, with 11 cases.
Bicol came in third with nine, and Central Visayas with six.
