MANILA, Oct. 18 (PNA) — The Department of Health (DOH) said Sunday assured adequate health assistance to families in areas expected to be hit by typhoon Lando.
According to Dr. Lyndon Lee-Suy DOH spokesperson, health emergency staffs (HEMs) were deployed in coordination with local government units in the opened evacuation centers to monitor and provide necessary medical services especially among the vulnerable sectors like elders, women and children.
Among the health services for typhoon victims include provision of clean and safe water for drinking as well as injection of tetanus toxoid for those evacuees who may get wounded while passing through flooded areas.
Dr. Lee-Suy also reminded that infant “formula milk” are not allowed as donations. With this, he encouraged mothers to continue to breastfeeding their babies in evacuation centers.
Lee-Suy assured that medicines are also being provided for those who may get sick. In addition, the agency is continuously monitoring the health status and exerting all efforts to control the spread of infectious diseases.
He also reiterated the call for people to do their share in cleaning their surroundings and destroy all possible breeding sites of dengue-carrying mosquitoes. (PNA)
