DOJ asks court to consolidate three drug cases vs De Lima

(Eagle News) — The Department of Justice has asked the court to consolidate the drug-related cases filed against Senator Leila De Lima, saying they are one and the same.

The prosecution specifically asked that all three cases lodged in Branches 204, 205 and 206 of the Muntinlupa Regional Trial Court be consolidated in the sala of Judge Juanita Guerrero of Branch 204.

Assistant State Prosecutor Peter Ong argued that there were no differences among the three drug-related cases.

He added that the consolidation  would ensure that there be no conflict among resolutions, decisions and orders to be issued.

The three drug cases stem from De Lima’s alleged involvement in the illegal drug trading in the New Bilibid Prison in Muntinlupa when she was justice secretary.

De Lima is detained at the Philippine National Police Custodial Center.

She yielded to authorities on Feb. 24. (With a report from Erwin Temperante)
