DOJ heaping witnesses, evidence on toleration of illegal drugs in NBP under De Lima

(Eagle News)– Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre II told on Tuesday that they have been huddling witnesses and evidence to find out if Sen. De Lima and her cohorts allowed the expansion of drug syndicates inside New Bilibid Prison during her time as DOJ secretary.

Aguirre revealed this month that at least two former Justice officials from the past administration, along with religious personnel and NBP authorities, are being investigated for their involvement in the drug market inside Bilibid.

President Rodrigo Duterte accused De Lima during a press conference of receiving drug money, mentioning De Lima’s driver-slash-bodyguard as the “bagman”.

The House of Representatives is also preparing its own investigation in the issue.
