The Department of Justice on Thursday said that the Supreme Court has yet to act on the prosecutors’ bid to transfer the venue of the cases filed in connection with the botched Mamasapano operation in 2015.

Senior Assistant State Prosecutor Rosanne Elepano-Balauag said in a letter sent to Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre II that the SC has “not resolved the prosecution’s request” for the transfer of venue from Cotabato City to Metro Manila.

He said this was despite the fact that the DOJ already wrote two letters to the High Court making the request last year.

The first was sent on January 19, and the second on December 7.

The two letters were addressed to Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno.

“While we await the resolution by the Supreme Court of our request for transfer of venue to Metro Manila, you have our solemn reassurance that wherever the trial maybe, your prosecutors will comply with their duties and responsibilities zealously,” Aguirre said.
