(Eagle News) — The Department of Justice is slated to summon former President Benigno Aquino III and 43 others in connection with the criminal complaint filed against them over the Dengvaxia mess.
The DOJ said it would order all 44 respondents to appear before the panel on May 15 at 10 a.m.
The looming summon was in connection with the complaint for multiple homicide and physical injuries through negligence, technical malversation and for violation of the Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act and the government procurement law filed by the Volunteers Against Crime and Corruption and the Vanguard of the Philippine Constitution, Inc. against them.
Apart from Aquino, former Health Secretary Janette Garin, former Budget Secretary Florencio Abad, Philippine Children’s Medical Center executive director Julius Lecciones, employees and officials of Dengvaxia manufacturer Sanofi Pasteur and of local distributor Zuellig Pharma Corp. were included in the complaint.
Over 800,000 were administered the vaccine under the government’s Dengvaxia vaccination program that began during Aquino’s term.
