(Eagle News) — The Department of Labor and Employment on Thursday, Aug. 16, released the rules on the payment of wages on Aug. 21, which President Rodrigo Duterte declared a holiday.
According to Labor Advisory Number 12, if an employee did not work on that day, he/she shall be paid 100 percent of his/her salary for that day.
“For work done during a regular holiday that also falls on a special day, he/she shall be paid an additional 30 percent of his/her daily rate of 200 percent,” it said.
According to DOLE, for work done “in excess of eight hours (overtime work) on the said day, he/she shall be paid an additional 30 percent of his/her hourly rate.”
“For work done on the said day which is also the rest day of the employee, workers shall be paid an additional 50 percent of his/her daily rate on the first eight hours of work,” it said.
DOLE said if work was done in excess of eight hours (overtime work) on the said day which is also the rest day of the employee, he/she shall be paid an additional 30 percent of his/her hourly rate on said day.
