DOLE remits over P500 million to treasury to help augment funds for gov’t projects

(Eagle News) — The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) said Sunday, May 13, that it has remitted P548.3 million to the Bureau of Treasury (BTr) that will help augment the funds needed for the implementation of government priority projects.

The amount, which came from the excess verification fee and interest collected by the 29 Philippine Overseas Labor Offices (POLOs), was an increase of P110.044 million from the 2017 remittance of P438.256 million, said DOLE’s Financial and Management Service (FMS) Director Warren Miclat.

According to DOLE, the verification fee “serves as the service fee for the verification of overseas employment contracts presented by prospective employer, principal or employment agency in the host country and/or their authorized representative before the same can be authenticated by the Department of Foreign Affairs’ (DFA) authorized official in the embassy.”
