(Eagle News) – The Department of Tourism (DOT) said the province of Samar could be an alternative destination while Boracay undergoes a rehabilitation.
“DOT will be more aggressive in promoting Samar and ensure that natural resources are well-taken care of,” DOT Undersecretary Katherine de Castro said.
The Samar government was pleased with the announcement.
“We are ready to welcome tourists after years of empowering, engaging and equipping our communities with skills needed to fortify the province’s community-based tourism initiatives,” Samar Governor Sharee Ann Tan said.
