(Eagle News) — The Light Rail Transit-1 Cavite Extension is expected to be operational soon with construction of the same on track, Transportation Secretary Jaime Bautista said.
“We are expecting this line will be operational by September of 2024. I’m impressed with the status of the project,” he added.
According to the Department of Transportation, at present, Dr. Santos, Ninoy Aquino, and Redemptorist Stations in Parañaque City have 48.03%, 34.06%, 30.17% progress rates, respectively.
Meanwhile, the progress rates for the Asia World and MIA Stations in Pasay City are at 37.12% and 35.47%, respectively.
The 11.7-kilometer, 8-station LRT-1 Cavite Extension Project is expected to connect Baclaran in Parañaque City with Bacoor, Cavite.
The DOTr has said once fully operational, the LRT-1 Cavite Extension Project is expected to cut travel time between Baclaran and Bacoor to 25 minutes, from the present 1 hour and 10 minutes.
It is also expected to increase the rail line’s capacity from 500,000 to 800,000 passengers daily.
The project is a joint venture of the DOTr, the Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA), and LRMC.
