DOTr to push through with PUV modernization program

(Eagle News)–Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade on Sunday, June 17, stood firm on the Department of Transportation’s plan to modernize public utility vehicles.

In a statement, Tugade said “we cannot delay nor deny the public of their right to convenient, affordable and roadworthy mass transport.”

“Mag rally sila kung gusto nila. Sunugin nila effigy ko kung gusto nila,” he said.

“But I will insist on the PUV modernization program,” he added.

Militant transport groups such as the Pinagkaisang Samahan ng mga Tsuper at Operator Nationwide have threatened to hold transport strikes should the government  push through with the program, which President Rodrigo Duterte has expressed support for.
