DOTR USec Orbos says old trucks, other vehicles to be included in “Tanggal Usok, Tanggal Bulok” campaign

QUEZON CITY, Philippines (Eagle News) — Department of Transportation (DOTR) Undersecretary and Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) general manager Tim Orbos said that they would also include old trucks in the government’s plan to phase-out dilapidated and smoke-belching vehicles plying the country’s roads.

He said this as he clarified that the department had not stopped its “Tanggal Usok, Tanggal Bulok” campaign.

This campaign will not only cover old jeepneys for phaseout, but trucks and other vehicles as well.

“Alam nyo po yung truck, meron na ho talaga kaming gustong gawin dyan. Hindi lang ho nadadaan sa ‘Tanggal Usok, Tanggal Bulok,’”Orbos said.

“Talaga hong pinag-aaralan na namin yung kanilang pagmo-modernize din katulad nung sa jeepney,” he said.
Orbos noted that trucks and other vehicles should also be included in the planned phase-out of old and smoke-belching vehicles.

“So tulad po doon sa “Tanggal Usok, Tanggal Bulok sa Truck” ay tinitignan na rin po namin yung pagmomodernize sa kanila,” Orbos said in a phone interview.
