Other appointments announced
(Eagle News) — President Rodrigo Duterte has made new appointments.
Tourism Undersecretary Jose Gabriel “Pompee” La Viña is now an undersecretary of the Department of Agriculture, taking the post left vacant by Bernadette Romulo-Puyat, who is now head of the tourism department.
La Viña was Social Security System commissioner before he was transferred to the Department of Tourism amid allegations of corruption against him.
He has denied the allegations, saying they were part of a “black propaganda” against him.
Cagayan Economic Zone Authority administrator Raul Lambino was also appointed as presidential adviser for Northern Luzon.
Based on his appointment paper, he is set to receive a P1 per year compensation for his services.
Bruce Tolentino, deputy director general of the International Rice Research Institute, was appointed as member of the Monetary Board, replacing Valentin Araneta who passed away on February 21.
Hellen Barber Dela Vega was also named the country’s ambassador to Australia.
The new posts were announced in appointment papers signed by President Rodrigo Duterte on Wednesday, June 6.
