Downed transmission line in Marawi reactivated– NGCP

(Eagle News)– The transmission line supplying power in a university in Marawi is already repaired and energized, the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) said on Tuesday (June 6).

According to the NGCP, the line supplying the Mindanao State University, which tripped amid the Marawi siege on May 23, was successfully fixed at 12:33 p.m. of June 3.

The NGCP said its personnel repaired the line despite the exchange of gunfire between the military and Maute group in the area.

“We are very proud of our team. The bravery demonstrated by the substation crew, who have not left their posts since the hostilities started, despite the risk to themselves, is truly laudable. We also commend our line crew who conducted repairs amidst audible gunfire. Their extraordinary bravery and dedication to public service is something we all aspire to,” the NGCP said.

The restoration activity was completed without any untoward incident.

NGCP said that all transmission lines in Mindanao are now operational.
