DSWD allots P4.85 million for residents affected by Maguindanao fighting

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has allotted 4.85 million pesos for the residents affected by the ongoing armed conflict in Maguindanao, according to Malacanang.

Communications Secretary Herminio Coloma Jr said 2,090 affected families or 10,450 individuals from seven barangays in Datu Salibo in Maguindanao are currently housed in six evacuation centers.

More people are being displaced as the Philippine army continued to fight the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF).

The all-out operation against the BIFF was done after the President directed the Armed Forces of the Philippines to go after the alleged terrorist organization that was said to have aided suspected terrorist Zulkifli bin Hir, also known as Marwan and Abdul Basit Usman in Mamasapano, Maguindanao.

On January 25, police operatives conducted a manhunt on Marwan and Usman, in the now infamous Mamasapano tragic encounter with the BIFF and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) that killed 44 members of the Philippine National Police-Special Action Force.  (Eagle News Service)
