(Eagle News) — The Department of Trade and Industry has given the assurance the government was extending assistance to the micro-entrepreneurs and residents who were affected by the six-month closure of Boracay.
Speaking to Net 25’s Agila Balita on Monday, May 28, Trade Secretary Ramon Lopez said the assistance was in the form of skill trainings and seminars, and in the form of cash assistance.
He said local entrepreneurs could sell their products through the government’s “Bagong Buhay Boracay.”
“Yung mga produkto nila dadalhin sa mga karatig lungsod, minsan pa nga dinadala dito sa Manila para mamarket,” he said.
He said affected micro-entrepreneurs could also avail of the Pondo Sa Pagbabago at Pag-asenso (P3) program.
Under P3, capital could be made available to those qualified at a lower interest of not more than 2.5 percent per month including additional fees by the conduit.
The program was conceptualized after President Rodrigo Duterte assailed the prevalent “5-6” money-lending scheme. with PNA
