DTI to public: Avail of goods in grocery stores, supermarkets to ensure purchase of products sold at SRPs

(Eagle News) — The Department of Trade and Industry on Monday, May 28, urged the public to avail of basic goods and commodities in grocery stores and supermarkets.

In an interview over Radyo Agila, Trade Secretary Ramon Lopez said these establishments, after all, sell these goods at the suggested retail prices (SRPs) set by the agency.

Lopez said this was based on the reports provided by DTI personnel who were deployed to those stores to monitor the prices of basic goods.

Even then, he said the increase in the prices of some products was just normal because of the increase in the prices of fuel.

He said the increase in prices of canned goods was also monitored because of the higher cost of tin plates.

The increase in the prices of school supplies, on the other hand, he said, was due to an increase in the cost of paper.

“Inexplain naman sa atin yan ng DTI, siguro one month ago dahil may mga nagrequest dahil nagtaasan yung mga produkto,” Lopez said.
