DTI to release SRP list of products used during holiday season, as it intensifies “producer to consumer program”

(Eagle News) — The Department of Trade and Industry is set to release on October 15 the suggested retail prices of products usually bought during holiday season.

According to Undersecretary Ruth Castelo, DTI had an agreement with the manufacturing companies to temporary hold the present prices of the basic commodities until the first day of December.

Castelo also advised consumers to buy goods earlier to avoid the holiday rush.

Meanwhile, to help consumer in minimizing their expenses for daily commodities, the DTI launched the Producer to Consumer Program with its “Tulong sa Bayan” outlets which aim to provide consumers with reasonably-priced agricultural and manufactured products and prime commodities.

The program was launched last July. Through the program, the DTI provides a venue where farmers and other producers can sell their products directly to the consumers. There are DTI outlets in in different barangays to sell quality products at cheaper prices.

“Ito po nangyayari na rin, metro-wide po ito. Yung DTI Tulong sa Bayan outlet naman kung saan po ang tawag dito Producer to Consumer market ng DTI. Yun pong mga farmers ng manok, baboy, gulay nilalagay sa mga LGU at doon po sila nakakapagbenta ng diretso sa consumers. Nandyan po ang manufactured food products po natin. May gulay din tayo diretso from the farmers at may NFA rice din tayo,” Castelo said in a phone patch interview with Net 25’s Agila Balita alas Dose.
