Duterte announces release of P500M to fund medical needs of wounded soldiers; adds village for soldiers to be completed in March 2018

(Eagle News) — President Rodrigo Duterte announced on Tuesday the release of P500 million to fund the medical requirements of wounded soldiers.

In his speech during the launch of livelihood projects for the uniformed men in Taguig, Duterte also announced the construction of a housing subdivision for the soldiers.

“Maybe give me until March, matatapos village niyo. I want it near the camps, an urban city, so you’ll have access to (your needs),” Duterte said.

He said apart from the “bigger” houses, prosthetics made of titanium–a far lighter material than aluminum— would be distributed to soldiers who need them.

He said livelihood projects with other agencies such as the Department of Agriculture were available to the soldiers.

“You might want to undergo computer training, or get a job that does not require moving around. I’d be happy to fund that project,” he said.

“One thing is for sure. Di kayo pababayaan ng gobyerno…Do not infulge in so much self-pity. I’m sure you will be alright,” he added.
