(Eagle News)–President Rodrigo Duterte has appointed Court of Appeals Justice Jose Reyes Jr. to the Supreme Court.
Reyes replaces Associate Justice Presbitero Velasco, who retired this week.
Court Administrator Midas Marquez, former Ateneo De Manila University College of Law Dean Cesar Villanueva and CA justices Apolinario Bruselas, Ramon Garcia, Rosmari Carandang, Ramon Hernando and Amy Lazaro-Javier had vied for the post.
Reyes, a San Beda law graduate like Duterte, was executive judge of the Rizal Regional Trial Court and a judge at the Metropolitan Trial Court in Rizal before he served at the appellate court.
