(Eagle News)–President Rodrigo Duterte on Tuesday, Aug. 14, said there was no proof there was shabu worth P6.8 billion in the lifters found in Cavite recently.
“I’d like to address myself to all government agencies. Iyong sabi nila na those they found that the metal… But they opened it, there was none. It was pure speculation,” Duterte said, dismissing the Philippine Drug Enforcment Agency’s claim.
The President made the statement after Customs Chief Isidro Lapeña told a House panel the lifters tested negative for methamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu.
The PDEA had come to the conclusion the lifters, which were empty when recovered, contained drugs after similar lifters were used in an attempt to smuggle shabu in the country beforehand.
The 500 kilograms of shabu were intercepted at a Manila port.
