(Eagle News)—President Rodrigo Duterte on Sunday, Feb. 25, said the Colombian Medellin cartel has expanded its operations and is now in the Philippines.
In a speech before barangay leaders in Pasay, Duterte said this explained the bricks of cocaine found floating off waters of some parts of the country.
The latest ones were recovered in Davao Oriental, Surigao del Sur and Aurora.
According to Duterte, the GPS trackers were attached to the illegal drugs so they could then be retrieved by the drug traffickers.
“We are facing a serious problem,” Duterte said.
“Mahirap ang Pilipinas dahil pinakamahabang shoreline,” he added.
