(Eagle News) — President Rodrigo Duterte on Monday said there has been a “considerable drop” in the country’s drug cases.
Speaking during the awarding of the Order of Lapu-Lapu to Philippine National Police, Armed Forces of the Philippines and other uniformed personnel at Camp Brigadier General Rafael T. Crame in Quezon City, Duterte said, however, that “we will remain vigilant.”
“It’s a perennial problem,” Duterte said.
Lives of policemen, military more valuable
In his speech, Duterte again railed at human rights advocates, reiterating that for him, if push comes to shove, “the life of a soldier, policeman (was) more valuable than that of a criminal.”
Duterte’s pronouncement was greeted with applause from attendees, who were mostly uniformed personnel.
According to Duterte, his “priority” were really the policemen and the military.
He said before he leaves office, he hopes the country will have a “strong” PNP and AFP that will “withstand the forces of time.”
“Ang kalaban niyo ay terrorism. I’m just waiting for a call na ‘Sir, may pumutok dito,'” he said.
“You have my word na proprotektahan ko kayo,” Duterte added.
He said that if uniformed personnel died in the line of duty, their widows would automatically be given a job in government.
