(Eagle News)–President Rodrigo Duterte on Thursday, April 11, said he does not want his daughter Sara to run for President.
Duterte made the statement amid calls for the Davao mayor to succeed her father, whose term expires in 2022.
“Yang anak ko baka maano kayo I will advise her to lay off..Kung ako ang tanungin mo hindi ako papayag na tatakbo,” he said.
Duterte said in the first place though, he did not think his daughter had plans of running for president.
“Wise masyado ‘yan si Inday…She just wants to shake the tree…shaking the tree and getting rid of the dry leaves and everything,” Duterte said.
The Davao mayor, who has announced her plans to run for another term as Davao chief executive, remained coy about her political plans afterwards.
Some have said the Hugpong ng Pagbabago regional party which she founded was a platform for her to win the presidency but she has already denied this.
