Duterte formally appoints Faeldon as BuCor head

(Eagle News) — President Rodrigo Duterte has formally appointed former Customs chief Nicanor Faeldon at the helm of the Bureau of Corrections.

The appointment was made via a letter dated November 19 and which was sent to the Office of the Justice Secretary.

The office has jurisdiction over the Department of National Defense, of which Faeldon is now an administrator.

As director of BuCor, Faeldon replaces former Philippine National Police chief Ronald dela Rosa, who is running for a seat in the Senate in 2019.

When he was Customs chief, Faeldon came under fire for the P6.4-billion shabu shipment that slipped past Customs last year, prompting his resignation.
