(Eagle News) — The chairman of the Housing and Urban Development Coordinating Council will oversee the housing concerns of Marawi residents who are rearing to return to the city in southern Mindanao.
President Rodrigo Duterte himself made the announcement during a press briefing upon his arrival from his two-day visit to Japan on Tuesday night.
“I hate committee, committee. From the table of the Defense Secretary (Delfin Lorenzana), it goes to one person, (Retired) General Ed del Rosario,” he said, referring to the HUDCC chair.
Duterte said “all secretaries are under orders to report to (Del Rosario) in matters in Marawi including finances.”
“I can assign the undersecretary or sinong gusto, pero under supervision of one man. Pag pumalpak, si Del Rosario yan,” he said, in explaining his “straight-line” structure.
President Duterte on Oct. 17 declared Marawi liberated from the clutches of terrorists who overran the city on May 23 in a bid to establish an caliphate for the Islamic State.
The announcement was made following the deaths of terrorist leaders Omar Maute and Isnilon Hapilon.
