Duterte: “I will fire one commission” due to corruption

(Eagle News) — President Rodrigo Duterte on Friday said he would “fire” an entire commission due to corruption.

“Now on Monday, I will fire one commission mismo, lahat sila. Wala akong pakialam kung nakisali isa, dalawa, tatlo. You have to go out. Because I think it will cease without your knowledge bakit mag-ganun. Wala akong patawad-tawad,” he said.

Duterte however did not say what commission this was.

Duterte also noted an official who he said went  abroad six times since September, prompting him to issue the reminder that government personnel were being paid by the people and as such could not afford to lead extravagant lives.

Since he assumed office, Duterte has said he had zero tolerance for corruption.

He has fired several government officials accused of this.

These include then-Interior Secretary Ismael Sueno, Budget Undersecretary Gertrudo de Leon, among others.
