President Rodrigo Duterte has issued his first executive order (EO) streamlining offices in the executive branch.
In executive order No. 1, entitled “Reengineering the Office of the President towards greater responsiveness to the attainment of development goals,” Cabinet Secretary Leoncio “Jun” Evasco Jr., will be overseeing the following:
Evasco, a former New People’s Army rebel, served as Duterte’s chief of staff during the time President Duterte was Davao City Mayor.
The agencies will deal largely with the welfare of the country’s poor and marginalized sectors in urban areas and the countryside.
Duterte has often said he hates seeing Filipinos lining up in front of government offices.
This EO hopes to show Duterte’s desire to eliminate redundancies in government processes which he emphasized in his inaugural speech, officials said.
