(Eagle News)– President Rodrigo Duterte on Monday announced that his chief protocol officer Marciano Paynor will be the new envoy of Philippines to the United States.
“He has a seasoned foreign career,” Duterte said in an interview.
Duterte said that Paynor already said “yes” to the offer.
Paynor was born and raised in Baguio City, and graduated at the Philippine Military Academy Class of 1971.
The retired military officer was also a former Philippine ambassador to Israel and Cyprus.
Paynor’s post would be taken over by Robert Borje, second secretary to the Permanent Mission of the Philippines to the United Nations.
