(Eagle News)– President Rodrigo Duterte on Thursday (September 22) night met with National Democratic Front (NDF) chief negotiator Luis Jalandoni in Davao City.
The two talked over dinner the ongoing peace talks between the government and the NDF.
Duterte declined to give additional details about the meeting, but said he leaves the issue up to the government peace panel and the NDF.
On Tuesday and Wednesday, the two panels met at the Royal Norwegian Embassy in Taguig. The meeting was organized and led by the Special Envoy to Peace Process Elizabeth Slattum.
The Office of the Presidential Advisor on the Peace Process revealed on Tuesday both panels agreed in principle to “revitalize” the Joint Monitoring Committee (JMC) for the implementation of the Comprehensive Agreement on Respect for Human Rights and International Humanitarian Law (CARHRIHL).
Former Agrarian Reform secretary and government peace panel member Hernani Braganza said the GRP-NDF panels met on Wednesday to discuss the extension of the unilateral ceasefire.
The peace negotiations will resume on October 6-8 in Oslo, Norway.
