(Eagle News) — Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte met with Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev of the Russian Federation on the final day of the 28th and 29th Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summits and Related Summits in Vientiane, Lao People’s Democratic Republic on September 8, 2016.
This was after the gala dinner where Duterte and Medyedev sat beside each other, instead of the earlier announced seating arrangement where Duterte and US President Barack Obama were supposed to be seatmates at the gala dinner.
The bilateral meeting between Duterte and Medyedev took place before the closing ceremony of the three-day Summits wherein the Philippines would be handed over the Chairmanship of ASEAN 2017.
