(Eagle News) — Former Armed Forces of the Philippines Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Rey Leonardo Guerrero will remain in public office.
This was after President Rodrigo Duterte named Guerrero, who had just formally transferred command of the 85,000-strong military to Western Mindanao Command Chief Lieutenant General Carlito Galvez Jr., to the helm of the Maritime Industry Authority on Wednesday, April 18.
Duterte ordered Guerrero to report to Marina next week.
Guerrero reached the mandatory age of retirement on December 17, 2017, but the President extended his service to April 24, 2018.
This came as the government prepared to rehabilitate Marawi following its siege by local terrorists in May 2017.
