(Eagle News)–President Rodrigo Duterte is now back in the country after attending the second Belt and Road forum in Beijing, China.
Duterte arrived in Davao on Sunday, April 28, past midnight.
In Beijing, Duterte spoke before a high-level meeting of world leaders, and witnessed the signing of agreements between the Philippines and China.
He had a bilateral meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping, where he raised the Permanent Court of Arbitration’s ruling that invalidated China’s expansive claims in the South China Sea, including Pag-asa Island.
He also told world leaders the Philippines was seeking ways to improve its protection of marine resource, after National Security Adviser Hermogenes Esperon said the Philippines would declare Pag-asa Island a marine protected area.
