(Eagle News) — Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III can probably expect another assignment from President Rodrigo Duterte.
But apparently not as Ombudsman, a post Bello has said he was interested in.
“I will assign him as labor attache sa Kuwait,” Duterte said when asked to comment on Bello’s application for the post, which would be left vacant with Ombudsman Conchita Carpio-Morales’ retirement in July.
The President did not elaborate.
Other candidates for the post are veteran lawyer Edna Batacan, who has lawyered for then Davao City Mayor Duterte and for former first gentleman Jose Miguel Arroyo in a case over the botched ZTE national broadband network deal; and Ombudsman Special Prosecutor and former Sandiganbayan Presiding Justice Edilberto Sandoval, among others.
Supreme Court Associate Justice Teresita de Castro was nominated to the post but she declined.
