(Eagle News)– President Rodrigo Duterte on Monday commented on the slaying of alleged drug lord Melvin “Dragon” Odicta and his wife Miriam, saying that they were on the run because of Melvin’s illegal drug trade activities.
“That is not my problem. He is wanted and he is the number one drug lord. Talagang drug lord ito,” he said.
“I cannot say anything. Good or bad, wala ako kasi iyan ang pinili niya eh. He was corrupting everybody pati iyong mga governors,” Duterte added.
The couple were shot in Caticlan port in Aklan Province. The report about their death came a few hours before President Duterte led the National Heroes Day ceremony at the Heroes’ Cemetery.
Duterte even joked about the drug lord ‘vacant post’.
“Sino ang sumunod dito kay Odicta? Bakante ngayon.”
