(Eagle News)–President Rodrigo Duterte on Tuesday, May 29, asked about the status of the vice presidential recount prompted by the electoral protest filed by former Senator Bongbong Marcos against Vice President Leni Robredo.
“Ano ba ang latest count nitong kay Bongbong (Marcos) at ni ano (Robredo)..Vice-President ba talaga ‘yan?” President Duterte said.
Duterte made the comment following reports saying she has shed 21,000 votes in the initial recount of three provinces, an allegation she has denied.
Robredo is pushing for the application of a 25 percent ballot shading threshold, but the Presidential Electoral Tribunal has denied her request.
She has appealed the decision.
Marcos was reported to have lost to Robredo by around 200,000 votes in the 2016 elections.
